About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering Technician to support the technical execution, maintenance, and data analysis of complex mechanical systems within high-risk energy and infrastructure environments. This role requires strong hands-on mechanical expertise combined with the ability to interpret technical data to ensure connection integrity and operational safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate mechanized and conventional power tongs (5.5”–20K Farr Tongs)
- Perform torque-turn monitoring and ensure connection integrity
- Maintain and troubleshoot hydraulic casing running tools (CRT/Overdrive systems) and bucking units
- Use JAM (Joint Analyzed Makeup) software for data input, graph analysis, and reporting
- Assist the Crew Chief with job documentation, torque-turn reports, and pressure testing
- Act as Lead Operator when required, providing operational and technical support to the crew
- Ensure full compliance with Australian WHS standards and offshore safety procedures
- Work safely in offshore or high-risk environments in line with site and company policies
- Skills & Experience Proven experience as a Field Operator, Mechanical Technician, or Engineering Technician in the oil & gas, energy, or heavy infrastructure sectors
- Strong knowledge of TTM (Torque-Turn Monitoring), Hydraulic Power Slips, and Premium Connection RIH
- Hands-on experience with casing running and completion tools
- Ability to interpret technical graphs and operational data
- Strong safety awareness and attention to detail
What We’re Looking For
- Higher School Certificate (HSC) or equivalent
- Relevant technical diploma, trade qualification, or engineering technician certification
- BOSIET and EBS certification (current or willing to obtain)
- Work Rights Must have valid Australian work rights
